God’s Covenant
Welcome to Teach us to Pray with The Prayer Covenant ministry. I’m your host Candy Marballi and I’m so happy you’ve joined us.
Our Scripture today is found in Matthew 19:14 where Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
We have to be mindful as adults not to stand in the way of children coming to Jesus with their time, talents and willingness to serve within their communities and churches. Children do not receive a junior holy spirit and when they are praying “Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Use me for your glory and to invite others to follow you, Jesus shows up.”
I met Alexander, an 11 year old boy, at one of our Prayer Covenant trainings in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
After the 3-hour event, he came up to me and said, “Thank you for what you shared. I believe God is calling me to start a cell group with the Prayer Covenant for Children resources.” My mom will help me get started.” My heart leaped for joy.
Ten days later, Alexander emailed me a video updating me on the fact that they had begun assembling 10 children to come together weekly and meet. Most recently he sent another video included in this newsletter. Those ten invited 9 other children that did not know Jesus to come to their group. Many began praying on the first day.
Children make great ambassadors! Jesus agreed when he said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Jesus rebuked the disciples that got in the way of the children being blessed by Jesus.
As adults we must advocate for our children. We must help them recognize and use their gifts for the glory of God. We must teach them to pray and hear God’s voice and above all we must unleash them to serve Jesus.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father we thank you and praise you for Alexander’s love for you and desire to please you. Thank you for his passion, leadership and desire to share the good news with those around him. Continue to raise up children and youth around the world that love you with their whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Make them messengers of your grace, truth and justice. Use them for your glory and to invite others to follow you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
